Mount
Si’s
volleyball
team, as
we told
you
already,
finished
sixth
for the
third
straight
year
this
past
weekend
at the
state 3A
volleyball
tournament,
in
Lacey.
Here’s
how each
of the
four
games
went.
Wildcats
rally
for
dramatic
win to
open
tournament
Last
Friday,
Mount Si
opened
their
run with
what was
expected
to be a
tough
test
against
Northwest
District
champ
Meadowdale.
But the
Wildcats
have had
a couple
of these
kinds of
matches
already,
and that
experience
proved
key, as
Mount Si
rallied
from two
sets
down to
stun the
Mavericks.
Big
performances
from
Rachel
Hayford
and
Sarah
McDonald
propelled
the
Wildcats
to a
12-25,
20-25,
25-19,
25-22,
15-12
victory
which
moved
them
into the
quarterfinal
round.
Hayford
had 31
digs
while
McDonald
pounded
31 kills
and 12
digs of
her own
to lead
the way.
Kailey
Capelouto
stepped
up and
provided
a strong
supporting
effort,
with 15
digs to
pace the
Wildcat
effort,
and
Lauren
Smith
also
delivered,
recording
41
assists
and 13
digs.
Brooke
Bonner
had a
season-high
22 digs
as well,
as Mount
Si’s
defense
worked
overtime
to help
in the
comeback.
